Flake soil sent from the OIF is intentionally dried for shipping and storage stability. During this process, it is dehydrated slowly using lamps and/or fans which allows beneficial bacteria and fungi enter a dormant state rather than dying. Once moisture is reintroduced, microbial activity naturally resumes within 24–72 hours.
Flake soil may be used immediately or stored dry long-term in a cool, dry location. For best results, lightly moisten before use and allow time for full reactivation.
