ICEPODS™ Big Canyon is one of the hobby's classic large-bodied isopods, prized for its rugged nature, steady reproduction, and excellent performance in bioactive enclosures.
A natural burrower, Big Canyon spends much of its time working beneath the surface, helping to aerate the substrate while breaking down decaying organic matter. Combined with its hardy, adaptable nature, this makes it an outstanding clean-up crew for a wide variety of vivariums.
Originally introduced as "Giant Canyon," these isopods earned their name as one of the largest species commonly available in the hobby at the time. Since then, some truly massive Porcellio species are now readily available, so we've updated the name to Big Canyon; a title that better reflects their place in today's hobby while preserving the identity that made them so popular.
