Our Hardwood Blend is the same substrate we use throughout our own breeding colonies. Made from a 50/50 blend of perfectly decayed hardwood and our premium flake soil, it provides a rich source of nutrition while maintaining a natural feeding environment for detritivorous invertebrates.
The decayed hardwood supplies essential fiber and long-lasting forage, while the flake soil contributes readily available nutrients and beneficial microbial activity. Together, they create a highly nutritious substrate that supports healthy growth, activity, and breeding.
Ideal for millipedes, isopods, beetle larvae, and other species that thrive on decomposing organic matter.
Millipede Mulch – Forest Floor Blend
Our Forest Floor Blend combines perfectly decayed hardwood, premium flake soil, and nutrient-rich leaf mold to create a more diverse and naturalistic substrate. Inspired by the composition of a true forest floor, this blend provides a variety of food sources, textures, and microorganisms that many invertebrates encounter in nature.
The addition of leaf mold introduces further biological diversity and decomposed organic matter while maintaining the nutritional benefits of decayed hardwood and flake soil. The result is a well-rounded substrate suitable for long-term maintenance, breeding projects, and mixed-species bioactive setups.
Ideal for millipedes, isopods, springtails, beetle larvae, and other forest-floor invertebrates.
